For the next 20 years, more than 10,000 Baby Boomers a day will turn 65. If your decision is to age in place in the home that you love, we can help make this a reality. It is not always necessary to move from your home in order to accommodate your changing needs. Moving can be traumatic, exhausting & expensive. Why not stay put as you age?

Caroline Perrone Darcy

As a certified aging-in-place specialist my goal is to help individuals and families evaluate their homes for safety and comfort. Working with an extensive network of professionals, we identify, recommend and offer solutions to revitalize the home. It is not always necessary to move from your home in order to accommodate your changing needs. Working with a team, we can help you make the right decision for your present or future lifestyle. I work with an extensive network of professionals that encompass all areas of aging-in-place.

My personal specialty is vertical transportation, i.e. home elevators, dumbwaiters and wheelchair lifts. Home elevators are now affordable and allow people with mobility issues to move freely from floor to floor. An elevator can be customized to meet your personal style and budget. Many builders and architects are already specifying home elevators. Not only do they increase property value, they also offer another way to make your home safe instead of having to move.

Sometimes the physical changes are costly, sometimes not. But relocating alone can cost more than the necessary changes. Moving to an assisted living facility or nursing home can cost anywhere from $60,000 - $100,000 a year. We may not want to think about these things until we are "older" or until we "have" to. But for those that are proactive and start to think about cost effective improvements for safe, comfortable, independent living ideas are ahead of the game.

Our initial consultation is the first step to modifying and improving your environment, so that you can feel comfortable and safe in your own home.

We can help assist you with improvements that could free a home of the physical barriers that may cause injury, and suggest upgrades that would improve your overall quality of life. Why be a prisoner in your own home? Why be confined to one room? Or even to one level?

Our Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) will come to you.

All of our Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) have been certified by the National Association of Home Builders. The program, launched in 2002, has certified more than 1,700 professionals including contractors, health care consultants and accessibility specialists.

Through the use of universal design principles, CAPS professionals can work with you to create a safe, comfortable and more independent life in your home; both now and for the future.

CAPS professionals are trained to work with senior citizens, catastrophically injured patients, adult children of seniors, health care providers, and many others.

This certification makes us specially trained to come into your home, assess your current living environment and offer recommendations to make your home safe and functional. We will analyze and identify barriers. We will point out restrictions to function.

This will allow you to live safely, independently and with dignity. And at the same time, continue to preserve the beauty and value of your home.

We also help narrow down all the decisions, establish priorities and suggest a "phase-in" schedule.

Our Home Safety Assessment is presented to you in a spiral-bound binder, complete with pictures, diagrams, brochures, floor plans, dimensions and recommendations.
